Dr. Xuesong Geng
Associate Professor of Strategic Management and Academic Director, Master of Science in Management
Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University Dr. Xuesong Geng is an Associate Professor of Strategic Management at Singapore Management University (SMU) and the Academic Director for the Master of Science in Management (MiM) program. With a rich background in both business policy and engineering, Dr. Geng specializes in strategic management, corporate governance, and innovation, with research interests spanning institutional theory, technological innovation, and organizational learning. He also serves as Co-Lead for Digital Business Research Peak and is the Course Coordinator for "Business, Government, & Society." Dr. Geng completed his Ph.D. in Strategy at the University of Toronto, an M.Sc. in Business Policy from the National University of Singapore, and holds both an M.Eng. in Engineering and Management from Zhejiang University and a B.Eng. in Material Engineering from Shandong University. Since joining SMU in 2009, Dr. Geng has earned multiple teaching awards, including the Most Innovative Teacher Award (2017) and the Most Promising Teacher Award (2014). He has also served on SMU's Faculty Advisory Committee for Teaching and Learning from 2019 to 2023. A prolific researcher, Dr. Geng’s work has been published in prominent journals such as Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, and Journal of Business Venturing. His recent publications examine topics including corporate philanthropy in response to natural disasters, innovation strategies in shifting institutional regimes, and the role of habitual entrepreneurship in digital ecosystems. In addition, he has contributed to multiple book chapters, focusing on innovation audits and the geography of innovation. Dr. Geng’s unique insights, combining strategic and technological perspectives, make him a respected thought leader in management education and research, with influence both within and beyond Asia.Marie Goh
