Prof. Ioannis Spyridopoulos
Assistant Professor of Finance
American University Kogod School of Business Prof. Ioannis Spyridopoulos Professor Ioannis Spyridopoulos is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Kogod School of Business, American University, and a Visiting Research Scholar at the Federal Reserve Board. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Rice University’s Jones School of Business and has previously been a Visiting Finance Ph.D. student at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. His research focuses on corporate finance, financial intermediation, and market structure, with publications in top-tier journals such as the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Review of Corporate Finance Studies, and Journal of Corporate Finance. His work has received multiple awards, including the RCFS Rising Scholar Award and best paper recognitions from major finance associations. Professor Spyridopoulos has an extensive teaching background, specializing in business finance and quantitative methods in finance. He has been recognized for his excellence in teaching with multiple Outstanding Teaching Awards at American University. In addition to his academic contributions, he actively participates in leading finance conferences and serves as a referee for esteemed finance journals.

American University Kogod School of Business Ben Bousquet is an Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions at the Kogod School of Business. He has previously worked in undergraduate admissions at Grinnell College and Dartmouth College. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the vast food scene of Washington D.C., and the great museum scene throughout the city.In this session, prospective students will gain an understanding of the Quantitative methods and data analysis in finance involve using mathematical models, statistical techniques, and computational tools to analyze financial data and inform decision-making. These methods help in risk assessment, portfolio management, pricing of financial instruments, and forecasting market trends, enabling data-driven strategies in finance.
