He leads the Human-Computer Interaction Lab, focusing on technologies with social impact. His recent work focuses on co-design methods for location-based augmented reality. He began his journey in the field of computer science with a B.Tech. in Computer Science from VTU, Bangalore, India, and is currently pursuing an M.S. in Computer Science at Santa Clara University, where he continues to expand his knowledge and expertise. Phaneendra's professional experience includes a significant role at Boeing India as a Software Developer. During his time at Boeing, he contributed significantly to the development of a web application for embedded onboard devices and servers of Cabin Systems on the 777X aircraft. By leveraging skills in Spring Boot and Angular.js, he boosted the team's productivity by an impressive 30%. Additionally, he enhanced the Video Surveillance System web application and conducted rigorous Verification & Validation to ensure Boeing's quality standards were met. In collaboration with Boeing US and HCL, he also played a key role in creating a tool that streamlined XML camera configurations for Cabin Systems software.The Thámien Ohlone AR Tour at Santa Clara University is a Unity native app that uses Augmented Reality (AR) to reveal hidden narratives about the Ohlone Native Americans, who have been stewards of the land since time immemorial. Developed in collaboration with the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe, the app leverages Unity’s advanced graphics engine, GPS, and computer vision-based tracking to anchor digital content to real-world locations, creating a seamless and immersive user experience. This talk will explore the technical development of the app, including challenges in optimizing AR content and integrating location-aware features.
