Rollie Lal
Associate Professor of International Affairs
George Washington University, Elliott School of International Affairs Rollie Lal is an Associate Professor at the Elliott School of International Affairs where she teaches graduate courses on Transnational Security, Foreign Policy, and International Political Economy. She is also Co-chair of the Global Affairs and Religion Network (GARNET). Her research focuses on organized crime, terrorism, religious extremism, human rights, China, South Asia, and other areas. She is the author of several books, including Terrorist Criminal Enterprises, Understanding China and India, Central Asia and Its Asian Neighbors, Iran's Political, Demographic, and Economic Vulnerabilities, and The Muslim World After 9/11. She was a correspondent for the Japanese newspaper The Yomiuri Shimbun in the 1990s and has published articles in other newspapers including The Financial Times and The New York Times.Danielle Goldstein
Associate Director of Graduate Admissions
George Washington University, Elliott School of International Affairs Danielle Goldstein joined the Elliott School in 2019 after completing her M.A. in Education & Human Development, specializing in Higher Education Administration, from the George Washington University. Prior to joining the Elliott School, Danielle held roles in admissions and student affairs at various institutions and non-profit organizations. Danielle received her B.A. from the University of Delaware.The session will cover an overview of some key Transnational challenges facing countries today and how they often overlap. For example, we will discuss how human trafficking, drug trafficking, and religious extremism become more dangerous in an era of advancing climate change.
